Round Mountain as seen from 6 miles south on the northeastern corner of Lookout Mountain, Ochoco National Forest........May 29, 2016.

This trail was hiked from the southern trailhead off the pass on Road 42, near the trailheads for Lookout Mountain. The roundtrip distance from the southern trailhead of Trail #805 to Round Mountain is about 10.1 miles with a total elevation gain of about 1800'. When we hiked it, there was no one else on the trail the day we hiked, and it was Memorial Day weekend! Protect your vehicles when hiking as some of the trailheads have suffered car clouting!

Weather: Temperatures in the mid 60s in the morning climbing to the low 70s by the afternoon. Skies were partly cloudy with a high haze, limiting good visibility to the Cascade Mountains, where one could normally see from Newberry Crater and Mount Bachelor north to Mount Hood.
